To those of you that don’t know me, here is a bit about Robert Pinkas in one complex paragraph. Born and raised in Brno, Czech Republic. Moved to the USA (lived in New York, Connecticut and Hawaii) in the ‘90s to complete High School followed by couple of universities and business degrees. Got some work experience under my belt and returned to the Czech Republic in 2004. Worked in various managerial positions in the Localization, Security, Consulting, Digital Marketing, Sales, Content Management, Analyst relations, Network Security and AI and Computer vision spaces and had the privilege to meet and lead some of the most amazing and fun people and teams on the planet. Now, I’m back in Brno, living happily with my dear wife Teri and our three wonderful sons Simon, Filip and Lukas in the fine borough of Kohoutovice, where I actually grew up some 40 years ago. Today I am trying to balance the family life with leading our fine AI computer vision startup VisionCraft to bright, green pastures of changing the way people acquire data about moving objects and also about how they excercise, do rehabilitation and so on. Before that I had the chance to work on the Product marketing side for network secirity company Flowmon Networks and even before that to have a priviledge to be part of the best Analyst group, doing business development for Gartner. Up until December 2016, I was a part of Kentico–the coolest and most flexible CMS and Digital Marketing vendor out there. Working with our Marketing team has been a true a joy and learning experience each day. Today I spend my time on polishing our small family clothing business for medical professionals called Pinky Scrubs as well as work on various consultancy and investor business ideas amongst friends and colleagues - no names yet, too many NDA talks going on:-) At the same time I continued to be a stakeholder in Ander Lippin, which I co-founded at the beginning of 2008, and where I worked in the field of strategic consultancy, investment, and business development, especially for IT companies. The company has managed to put together a couple of companies and products since that time–Sticky Password–simple, yet powerful, password management software for even the most basic user (like me) to help people be safer and faster while using various Internet portals and applications requiring logins or the filling out of any type of data. And Web Facies–a company that focuses on creating and optimizing e-commerce solutions and support systems and applications for Internet sales. And what was before? As a person with several years of traveling and staying in various places, I have had the opportunity to see and live in many cultures and surroundings. This has not changed–I still love it, though I like much more to do the traveling and exploring with Teri and Simon. In my Hawaiian times, I was employed by a wonderful company called Pacific Wireless Communications, which is the largest Motorola dealer in the Pacific. I was getting enormous exposure to the newest wireless technologies and also great responsibility and a contact base with Federal, State, City, County, and Commercial account personnel. Before I decided to take a step towards the USA I held the nice and interesting position of Business Development Manager for Europe in Moravia IT, today Moravia Worldwide–one of the largest and, surely, most dynamic localization service providers in the world. In 1993, I completed my High School education in the Humanities HS on Lower West Side in Manhattan, and from there, went on directly to the Sacred Heart University, where I received a degree in International Business in 1998. These studies brought many challenges and great experiences, including a couple of semesters in Florence and Prague at local economics universities. I still love to travel (you should see my collection of fridge magnets I have from each city I have visited–I need two fridges just to display them all) and do so at every chance I get. After the end of my undergraduate studies, I was a Regional Manager for the then largest managerial not-for-profit organization in the world, International Executive Service Corps. For two years, I was responsible for the Moravian part of the Czech Republic's restructuring operations conducted by IESC. Working first out of the Prague office and then moving to my own office in Brno, this provided me with a great outlook on the local economy as well as to different management and financial practices used by US-retired executives. This gave me the impulse to go further into mind expansion and I enrolled on an MBA program with a degree in finance. As a student at the Hawaii Pacific University, I finally utilized all the international experience that I had acquired in a short time span. So what do I really like to do in my spare time? Hm, what is spare time? :-) Be around family and friends, enjoy all that life has to offer–travel, read, play (and watch) volleyball, hockey, football, golf, tennis, and any other team sport, talk about nothing and everything, and if things stay as they are–work in a great environment. So, if I have failed to cover anything here, let me know. Robert “Pinky” Pinkas Share Post: Comments
